European Labour Law
The EU & Regulatory Law Department at Fenech & Fenech Advocates also assists its Clients in providing legal advice and assistance in relation to European employment law. Whilst national law permeates most areas of employment law as a fully-fledged system in its own right, at an EU level, labour law also has an important role to play. EU employment law covers two main areas:
¤ Working conditions, including working time, part-time and fixed-term work, and posting of workers;
¤ Information and consultation of workers, including in the event of collective redundancies and transfers of undertakings.
For over 50 years, the European Union has worked towards achieving a high level of employment and social protection, improved living and working conditions and economic and social cohesion.
To this aim, the EU adopts legislation defining minimum requirements at EU level in the fields of working and employment conditions and the information and consultation of workers. The Member States then transpose the law into their national law and implement it, guaranteeing a similar level of protection of your rights and obligations throughout the EU. Whether as an individual or a legal body seeking advice, Fenech & Fenech Advocates can assist you on all aspects of employment and industrial relations law.
Our work in the EU & Regulatory Law Department includes advising on the individual and collective employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions; executive remuneration and related regulatory and disclosure obligations; service contracts and related documents; confidentiality and restrictive covenants; work councils; individual and group severance arrangements; and contracting out of services.
