Fenech & Fenech welcomes new associates

Two recently graduated lawyers have joined the Fenech & Fenech legal team as of August 2010. They are Dr Adrian Attard and Dr Jeanette Ciantar.
Adrian Attard graduated with an LL.D. from the University of Malta in 2009. His doctorate thesis was entitled ‘The Juridical Nature of the Territorial Sea under Maltese Law.’ Subsequently, he pursued his studies in international maritime law and in 2010 graduated with an LL.M. from the IMO International Maritime Law Institution. His dissertation was entitled ‘The 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea High Seas Regime: A Critical Analysis’. In 2010, Adrian joined the maritime litigation department at Fenech & Fenech Advocates. He practices in all fields of maritime law. He is also a member of the Malta Chamber of Advocates.
Jeanette Ciantar joined Fenech & Fenech Advocates after having completed a Masters Degree in European Law at the College of Europe, Bruges. Jeanette graduated from the College of Europe with distinction in June 2010 after having submitted her Masters Dissertation entitled ‘How Far is Too Far? The Growing Tension between the Building of a Fortress Europe and the Effective Protection of Migrants’ Human Rights’. Prior to that, she graduated from the University of Malta in November 2009 as Doctor of Laws. Her doctorate thesis was entitled ‘The Liability in Tort for the European Community and Member State Liability: Common Basis and Conditions?’. She will be working in the International Practice Department of the firm and more specifically, in the Corporate and Commercial field of law. She will also be assisting in legal advice and research on matters concerning European law and jurisprudence. Her areas of expertise include: EU Competition Law; The Internal Market and the Four Freedoms; Judicial Remedies in the EU; The External Relations of the EU; Comparative European Company Law; Immigration Law; Human Rights Law; European Criminal Law; and Justice and Home Affairs Law.
