F&F participation in COMNET-IT
Date: 15th June, 2009
Fenech & Fenech was, this year, entrusted to develop and deliver the training programme for Commonwealth countries spanning 5 days in June. It consisted of intensive workshops on various aspects of legal frameworks and ICT organised by COMNET-IT.
The Commonwealth Network of Information Technology for Development (COMNET-IT) was established as an independent international foundation in November 1995, with the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Government of Malta as its sponsors. COMNET-IT primarily works within Commonwealth member countries to support activities related to the policy-development and capability-building in implementing, managing, and using new information and communications technologies.
The conference held between the 15th and the 20th of June attracted a good number of lawyers and technical staff from various public bodies from Commonwealth countries. The programme featured a wide array of speakers including 5 lawyers from Fenech & Fenech.
Paul Gonzi delivered presentations on eGovernment and the law, internet governance as well as data protection, Nicola Mallia discussed alternative dispute resolution in the online world, Nicky Vella Falzon gave a well-received update on copyright in the digital era, Jeanine Rizzo talked about intellectual property and its interaction with folklore and traditional knowledge whilst Antonio Ghio delivered presentations on computer Crime, electronic commerce as well as the legal challenges for ICT regulation. He also chaired the event.
The feedback from the participants and the COMNET-IT secretariat was very positive and Fenech & Fenech was invited to repeat this years success next year.
Well done to all Fenech & Fenech speakers for their valuable contribution!
