Ship and Yacht Registration

The Malta flag provides for the possibility of registering all types of vessels from yachts to passenger cruise ships and tankers, including those under construction, as well as other marine structures such as oil rigs, cranes and pontoons.  It also offers complete tax exemptions and imposes no restrictions on nationality of shareholders and directors of Maltese companies, of crew working on board Maltese registered vessels and which also allows foreign companies to own/operate Maltese registered vessels.

Our ship registration department has a history of assisting vessel owners from all parts of the world with the registration procedure as well as all related technical and administrative aspects. Our team also provides a 24-hour, 7 days a week service to our clients.

The past years have witnessed significant legal developments as regards the yachting industry. Efforts are being made by all the players in the industry, with the backing of the Government, to ensure that the success experienced in the merchant fleet registration is emulated in the yachting sphere. As regards commercial yachts, the advantages previously available to ships have now been extended to commercial yachts which can now benefit from a tax exemption, paying only an annual tonnage tax which is calculated on the basis of the net registered tonnage of the yacht. Private yacht owners on the other hand are offered a number of benefits including low registration costs and straight forward registration procedures.
